How to get the most out of our search engine

Syntax
HumorLinks' powerful search engine (HumorFind) accepts the following syntax:

word length
Words must be at least two letters long. Words less than two letters in length will be ignored.

+word
Placing a plus sign in front of a word will require that all records returned by the search contain that word.

-word
Placing a minus sign in front of a word will ensure that no records returned by the search contain the word.

"phrase search"
Placing quotes around a string of words will direct the search to return records containing the string of words in the specified order.

substring*
Placing an asterisk after a word or string will return records that contain the word or string as the first part of a larger string. For example, searching for "pea*" would return "pear", "peak", "peal", "peace", "peanut", "peacock" and "pearl". Note that the asterisk does not require that the search string be followed by any other string: searching for "pea*" would also return "pea".

*substring
Placing an asterisk before a word or string will return records that contain the word or string as the last part of a larger string. For example, searching for "*rip" would return "trip", "grip" and "strip". Note that the asterisk does not require that the search string be preceded by any other string: searching for "*rip" would also return "rip".
