Clarence:

It must have been a crushing loss of face for China - not being allowed to host the 2,000 Olympics.

 

Marmaduke:

Not at all. It's like water off a duck's back. They're already gearing up for a sweep of the medals.

 

Clarence:

Are they?

 

Marmaduke:

Oh sure, they're currently concentrating on several events.

 

Clarence:

Such as?

 

Marmaduke:

Well ... shooting, for instance. I mean, they've recently been staging single-pistol events in sports stadiums throughout the country.

 

Clarence:

And no hitches?

 

Marmaduke:

On the contrary. A friend of mine recently witnessed one of these events in Beijing.

 

Clarence:

And the meeting went off well?

 

Marmaduke:

Oh yes. According to him, the entire competition was executed very smoothly.
